Like many people living on the coast of Nova Scotia, Chris was introduced to sailing at a relatively young age. Though he didn’t exactly take to it like a fish to water, opting for soccer in his formative years, Chris matured and eventually fell in love with sailing. Chris has gained a lot of knowledge on a variety of boats he’s as racing crew, including his own J/ 29 Jaeger. Chris’s first job was a tender operator at South Shore Marine and then again at RNSYS where Chris often chatted with Jim Snair, owner of Sunnybrook Yachts. Jim’s ability to spot talent zeroed in on Chris which eventually led to him having a successful career at Sunnybrook Yachts.
In this capacity, Chris has sold over 100 power and sailboats “The most rewarding aspect of working in the boating industry is helping people realize their dream of boat ownership. You would be surprised how many people in our own backyard have never stepped foot on a powerboat or sailboat.”
Chris is a big believer in ‘giving back’ to the sailing community and has served as chair of the Halifax International Boat Show and on the Board of Directors for the voice of the marine industry, Boating Atlantic. Chris has recently come aboard Sail NS with a drive to get as many people out on the water as possible.
“Sailing is getting people together, cruising around islands, coming in from a weeknight race with the sun setting. Is there anything better?”
