Sail Canada Rolex Sailor of the Year Awards
The 2017 Sail Canada Rolex Sailor of the Year Awards took place in March and witnessed one of the largest crowds to date. On top of celebrating all the awards winners, Brenda Bowskill was named the Rolex Sailor of the Year marking the first singlehanded female sailor to win this award!
The 2018 Sail Canada Youth Championship was hosted at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on Toronto Island. In accordance with the regatta, RCYC hosted the first Sail Canada Youth Olympic Training
The Royal Victoria Yacht Club and Canadian Forces Sailing Association hosted the 2018 Melges 24 Canadians, followed by the World Championships in June. 41 teams from around the world came to Beautiful BC.P
Hosted by the Squamish Yacht Club and West Vancouver Yacht Club in August with 92 optimist sailors!
The Sail Nova Scotia Mobile Sailing School introduced 7 communities and many kids to the sport of sailing
In an effort to bring sailing to more people across the province, Ontario Sailing has had another successful year with their BOOM program in 2018!
The 2018 Atlantic Sailing Conference was a great success. Held in November the Conference brought together leaders from the sailing community to share best practices, network and hear new ideas to improve their programs at all levels.

Sail Canada was pleased to hire a High Performance Director this year, Mike Milner!
In partnership with Sail Nova Scotia and the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic we welcomed Krzysztof Kierkowsk as the new Sail Canada Next Gen Double Handed Coach.
The 2018 Ontario Summer Games (sailing) took place at the Fanshawe Yacht Club. Attracting many sailors for a great event in London, ON.
Two Youth Olympic Training Seminars (YOTS) took place this year – 1 pre the Sail Canada Youth Championships and another YOTS Invitational at RNSYS in the Fall. Both camps provided sailor with the opportunity to learn from past Olympians, current and past National Team members, and guest experts.

2018 Sail Canada Regional Championships
Sail East, Sail West & Sail Central had a great turnout of youth sailors with 365 boats participating in these regional championships.
Canadian Sailing Team & Development Squad Training Camp
The Canadian Sailing Team & Development Squad Training Camp got together for 3 days of sailing, team bonding, fitness testing & sharing knowledge.
The 2018 Women’s Keelboat Championships took place at the Mimico Cruising Club in September! Women gathered for 3 days of racing in Sharks
Sail Canada Instructor and IE, Bob Davis of BC, was selected by our members as Sailing’s Ultimate Zoomer. He and his wife Sharon showcased sailing in the July /August edition of Canada’s Zoomer Magazine.
Sail Canada Professional Coach Clinic
The top coaches from across Canada came together for 4 days of professional development clinic in Vancouver. Coaches got out on the water in sailboats to race and learn from each other and guest experts Ross Macdonald and Richard Clarke.
