Canadian 29er Championship – Galen Richardson and Jake Adair

Jake and Galen National champs

Galen Richardson (RCYC) and Jake Adair (KYC/RCYC) won the Canadian 29er Championship hosted by KYC August 3rd-6th, 2018, with a low score of 29 points.  Galen and Jake have been sailing together for just over a year and have placed 2nd at the Canada Summer Games, 2nd at US Nationals last weekend and clinched Sail Canada’s Youth Championship last year in Nova Scotia.  Second place finishers were Thomas and William Staples from RSTLYC with a score of 49 points and Aidan Chiu and Walker Moffat (RCYC) were third with 53 points.  Top female boat finishing 4th overall was Youth Worlds Team Audrey Staples and Caterina Kunz (RSTLYC).

Weather conditions for the event were light for the first couple of days and as the regatta progressed conditions improved with winds reaching 12-15 knots the final day.  Unfortunately, the event did not get the usual Kingston thermal.  Sailors are hoping for those conditions next week as they compete in the  CORK/North American Championships in Kingston.
