Sail Canada is pleased to introduce to you the High Performance Director, Mike Milner.
With an extensive background in sailing, Mike grew up sailing at the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club, where he fell in love with the sport. From that point forward, he decided to expand his skills and started working for the Ontario Sailing Center Coach while also competing as a National Team Member in the Finn Class with International success.
As a coach Mike started his career at the Ontario Sailing Association and ever since then has worked with up and coming athletes and potential Olympic medalists – providing his leadership, mentorship and knowledge to the athletes.
His coaching path allowed him to be involved in the Canadian Coaching System as the first chair of the Canadian Coaching Development Panel. Continuously contributing to the sport, Mike spent 19 years (from 1996-2015) as the Sailing Director for the Royal Canadian Yacht Club; where he started the RCYC High Performance Program.
Throughout his career Mike has refined his skills as a sailor, coach, race officer/regatta manager, administrator and overall promoter of the sport of sailing. Mike is ready to bring forth his skills and expertise to create a system which will unite the Canadian Sailing community to ensure success of the system, coaches and our athletes.
Sail Canada is excited to have Mike be apart of the team!
